Questions people ask
What is the Sean Ellis test?
It asks users how they’d feel if they could no longer use your product. If at least 40% answer “Very disappointed”, you’re likely to have product–market fit. Below that, the other answers show who to focus on and what to fix.
Why is there an “I no longer use it” answer?
It’s part of the original survey. People who’ve stopped can say so, and logic sends them to one question about why. Leave them out when you work out the 40%: download the CSV and divide the number of “Very disappointed” answers by the number of people who answered, not counting “I no longer use it”. Ribbit doesn’t calculate it for you.
Who should I send it to?
People who know the product well enough to miss it: active users who’ve used its core features at least twice, most recently in the last couple of weeks.
Can I change the questions?
Yes. Using the template makes a draft you can change completely. Keep the first question’s wording and its three main answers if you want to compare your result with the 40% benchmark.
