Why people look for a Tally alternative

Tally’s free plan covers a lot, so people usually leave for one of three reasons.

  1. You want one question per screen. Tally builds single-page or multi-page forms in an editor it says works “like a document (similar to Notion)”, and its pages describe no one-question-at-a-time mode.
  2. You want a different look or layout. Tally’s forms are pages built in that document-style editor. Other tools start from a different layout: one question per screen, Paperform’s Guided Mode or Jotform’s Cards.
  3. You want Pro features for less. Removing Tally’s branding, a custom domain, partial submissions and drop-off analytics all need Tally Pro, at $29 a month or $290 a year.

If you want one question per screen

Ribbit, Youform and Typeform show one question per screen by default; Jotform and Paperform offer it as a mode. Our guide to one-question-per-screen forms covers the layout itself.

Ribbit: one question per screen, free logic and a cheaper Pro

Ribbit is an edit-first AI form builder. You describe your form in one sentence, AI drafts the questions and picks answer types, and then you edit everything by hand; the AI tab makes one change at a time and marks the question it touched. Respondents see one question per screen with a progress bar, on any phone or computer, and need no account.

Conditional logic and multiple endings are free on every plan: jump rules send people to a later question or one of up to 10 endings, and the Flow board maps every path. The free plan has unlimited forms and responses under fair use, 52 templates, and 5 AI generations a day and 50 a month.

  • Your brand on Pro: your logo and name in place of the badge, or no badge, plus your own subdomain with custom links like /feedback.
  • Analytics on Pro: views, starts, completion rate and drop-off per question, plus partial answers.
  • Designed endings on Pro: your own image or emoji, text, up to two buttons, colours and confetti, with a redirect for each ending.
  • A team on Pro: you plus 3 teammates, one signed webhook per form and no AI cap.

Pro is $29 a month, or $240 a year ($20 a month): $50 a year less than Tally Pro. Right now the first year is $150 with the early-bird price, applied automatically, then $240 a year. The Ribbit vs Tally comparison puts the two side by side.

Youform

Youform shows one question at a time by default, and a multi-page block puts several questions on one screen when you want that. Its free plan includes conditional logic with scores and calculations, multiple endings, file uploads up to 10 MB each, and integrations such as Google Sheets, Slack and Zapier, for one user.

Removing Youform’s branding, a custom domain, Stripe payments and a redirect after submission need Pro, at $29 a month or $240 a year, the same as Ribbit Pro. See our Youform alternatives for more.

Typeform

Typeform is known for its conversational, one-question-at-a-time layout. Its free plan allows 10 responses a month across all your forms, and Basic is $39 a month, or $28 a month billed yearly, with 100 responses a month and 1 user.

Removing Typeform’s branding starts on Plus: $79 a month, or $56 a month billed yearly, against $240 a year for Ribbit Pro. Drop-off rates start on Business ($91 a month billed yearly), and connecting your own domain is Enterprise only; Plus gets a custom subdomain. Our Ribbit vs Typeform page compares the two in detail.

Jotform

Jotform says its Cards layout “lets you ask one question per page”, and the classic all-on-one-page form is there too. The free Starter plan allows 5 active forms and 100 submissions a month, with 100 MB of uploads and 10 payments a month. Bronze, which removes Jotform’s branding, is $39 a month, or $408 a year ($34 a month) billed yearly.

If you want a different look

If you want forms that look different from Tally’s document-style pages, the real choice is layout: one question at a time, or a tool that offers several. Ribbit gives every form, on every plan, an accent colour, one of four fonts and one of ten artwork backgrounds, with portrait art for phones.

Paperform

Paperform offers a “one-question-at-a-time Guided Mode, or full-page and multi-page layouts”. Its free plan is permanent, with 30 submissions a month and a Paperform badge that can’t be turned off. Pro removes the badge for $59 a month, or $49 a month billed annually, with a 7-day free trial. Payment fields take Stripe, PayPal and Square.

If you need something Tally’s free plan doesn’t include

Branding removal, a custom domain, partial submissions and drop-off analytics are Tally Pro features, at $29 a month or $290 a year. Ribbit Pro includes all four for $240 a year.

Fillout

Fillout’s free plan has unlimited forms, unlimited seats and 1,000 responses a month, with conditional logic, payments and file uploads up to 20 MB each. Its own blog builds that layout from multi-page forms with branching. Starter, at $180 a year ($15 a month) billed yearly, keeps light Fillout branding; Pro, at $480 a year ($40 a month), removes it.

Formester

Formester’s free plan has unlimited forms and responses and an AI form creator, and its own blog describes card-style forms that show one question at a time. Conditional logic starts on the Personal plan, $13 a month or $143 a year (about $12 a month) billed yearly, which also removes Formester’s branding.

Questions people ask

What is the best free Tally alternative?

Ribbit, if you want one question per screen: its free plan has unlimited forms and responses under fair use, jump logic with up to 10 endings mapped on the Flow board, 52 templates and an AI first draft. Youform’s free plan is also unlimited under fair use and shows one question at a time.

Why do people switch from Tally if it’s free?

Mostly for the layout or the price of Pro. Tally builds single- or multi-page forms rather than one question per screen, and removing its branding or adding your own domain needs Tally Pro at $290 a year; Ribbit Pro does both for $240.

Does Tally show one question per screen like Typeform?

Tally’s pages describe single-page and multi-page forms and no one-question mode. Ribbit, Youform and Typeform show one question per screen by default.

Is Tally really free?

Yes. Tally says it gives you “unlimited forms and submissions, completely free” within its fair-use guidelines. Removing its branding, custom domains, partial submissions and drop-off analytics need Tally Pro.

How much does Tally Pro cost?

As of October 2026, Tally Pro is $29 a month billed monthly, or $290 a year billed yearly; the “$24 per month” on its pricing page is the yearly price spread over 12 months. Ribbit Pro is $29 a month, or $240 a year.

Can I move my Tally forms to Ribbit?

Ribbit has no importer, so you rebuild each form from a one-sentence description or a template, then edit the questions by hand.
